Hi

My JLWM1413 is making a whining jet engine noise. It’s 7 years old so I’m guessing the bearing. Is it replaceable and any advise please?

Looking at the parts diagram there is a drum part called the “3484169002 cluster,welded,assembly,G50,1400d” for £183. Would that be it? Product number appears to be Electrolux 91453412401.

    Thanks!

Also it looks like Electrolux offer a fixed price repair for £199 – worth a shot?

thats a better option as you dont have to do the labour and its guarenteed

the problem is always will anything else fail and thats a hard question

repair machine and get a guarentee on parts fitted or a new machine and its all guarenteed

Might not be drum bearings! Drum bearings usually run a rough sounding rumble noise which I wouldn`t describe as a jet engine noise. Might however be motor bearings. Before you buy anything remove the drive belt then take hold of motor spindle (the armature) and see if any up and down play then try revolving spindle by hand then select spin and then listen. Some Zanussis also had a plastic sheet impregnated over the actual armature within the motor and that over years peels off as a sheet so check that too before doing anything other than also revolving drum without the belt attached to the motor.

    Hi andyjawa

No play in motor spindle. When I remove the pulley there’s no sign of a leak or damage . When I remove the belt and spin the drum by hand I get a grumbling noise.

    Springs and weights look fine.
