I have a Beko ICQFVD373 Fridge freezer.
When I turn on the power I get what sounds like the thermostat clicking, the freezer fans starts, then about 4 seconds after starting the fan cuts out. Pretty much at the same time as the fan cuts out the compressor just ‘hums’ for about 15 seconds before making a popping noise and turning off. I presume this is the thermal fuse/protector on the PTC relay tripping and turning off power to the compressor. The PTC relay is brand new, but the old one (the one it replaced) did the same thing.
It seems to me that the fan cuts out just before power goes through the compressor but it might happen simultaneously.
So it looks like the compressor motor is seized – and that seems simple enough – but not sure why the freezer fan stops working at the same time or just before the power is switched to the compressor.
Any thoughts as to why the fan cuts out would be appreciated.
Here’s another weird fact: the resistance across the PTC relay (for the start and run windings) is 2 kohms. This is the case on the old relay and the brand new one also. This seems way to high as I was expecting these pins to be close to 0 ohms between them. The PTC relay is QPE2-C15MD3.
Thanks,
Mark
