I’ve got a Hotpoint (with a whirlpool label) NM11 1045 WC A UK washing machine which has a non servicable drum however, the bearing went so I have made it servicable, however, I noticed the ring that sits on the shaft of the drum spider (which fits inside the inner drum seal) has a split from inside to the outside. If these are, as I think, supposed to be one complete circle without a split/crack then Im going to need to source one.
The size of it is 35mm ID x 40mm OD with a chamfer on one side.`
Anyone know of something that may fit the bill?
short answer you have not got much chance
this part always came with the spider and it was only the very old machines it was available as a seperate part
also if it is under 5 years old and registered hotpoint would give you the part for free and you would only pay for labour

Ive already split the tub and changed the bearings/seal so if thats the case, I might have to persuade my old pal to make something on the lathe… I dont suppose anyone knows the best material to make it from? Im guessing it cant be too hard so steel is out of the question?
Well, I think Ive just found something that will fit the bill. I just need to chamfer one edge.Gotta be worth a shot 🙂

Back to the drawing board 😀
So you cut the sealed plastic tank to get at the drum to get at the spider running hub ring which has split – Never had that one before so Hotpoint must be sinking down to even newer depths of quality than ever before. I`m curious to how you are going to rejoin both plastic tank halves back together without a watery disaster? Since it is under a freebee parts warranty you`ve now just given Hotpoint the necessary ammo to void your warranty for the sake of calling them out getting the part for nothing and charging you about £130 which would be a lot cheaper than you buying the tank should you now have to so probably near 200 quid at a guess as it appears to be not listed on their parts website probably because it is so new.
All very odd.I didn’t have to cut it. I managed to split it with minimal damage.
I split it to get to the bearing which had gone. Its about 6 years old or so and out of warranty so nothing to lose.
One half of the tub has bolt holes so I’ve followed them through and can bolt it back together one the sealant is applied.
Firstly however, I’m going to have to make the ring because it’s just not available.
20 quid into it so far and only need the ring so id say it was worth the gamble 🙂

Looking at the line drawing (so not a photo of the tank unit) the plastic tank is sealed which normally means you would have to cut through the plastic to get the drum and so the spider out though perhaps Hotpoint have redesigned the tank so this is not the case anymore? Anyway, let us know how you get on. Hope you succeed.
Have had this problem several times in the past and can confirm that fabricating one from an oilite bush does the job fine.
Have fixed them to the shaft using loctite or epoxy without issues. Grease the oil seal well before assembly.Murv…

Splitting the tub was a PITA but it is achievable.

I think Ive found the correct ring!!! A european site says the ring size for a Zanussi part number 1100991221 (which seems to be fairly universal) is 41x17x3mm and that is pretty much bang on.
