Hi – I have a Miele fridge K12020S-1. This has the usual arrangement of door-operated switch that operates the internal light when the door is open. Recently, the door has started jamming on the switch and refusing to close, rather than operating the switch and pushing it out of the way to allow the door to close. The switch is on the RHS of the fridge, the door is also hinged on the RHS – so the door imparts a “glancing blow” to the switch. I cant see any fixings for the switch to allow adjustment, I have tried adjusting the door at its bottom hinge but no joy.

It’s almost as if the switch button is sticking too far forward. It’s gone from intermittent “I’m sure I shut the fridge door, why is it now open” to regular “why won’t this ***** door shut” and now to “I’ve taped the switch shut, that’ll fix it!” – but now obviously no light when I open the door!

Any bright ideas? Thanks in advance!

The thermostat housing requires removing and then refitted 2-3mm inwards on right hand hinged doors, it may require a new light swith if damaged.

Thanks Tony, makes sense. I have had a quick look over the unit and cant see how to adjust the thermostat housing, is there a hidden screw or something that allows this? I don’t see any obvious fixings.

Remove control knob, and light cover, the branded trim unclips at the rear and is slotted in near light switch and you will then find three fixing screws.
