    Hi

Dont know if anyone would be able to assist.

Because of the hot weather, I decided to turn my fridge freezer to the maximum.

This morning he had such a loud noise when I opened the freezer door which remained noisy for a while. I turned down the freezer but its still noisy.

Coming back from work I noticed it was totally dead, then the normal fridgy sound came on after about an hour. But it still makes a loud noise (not so loud as the last time) when I open the freezer door.

, , , what I need to know is my freezer on its last legs?? Or with the weather cooling down it may be back to normal and survive a couple more years. ts 6 1/2 years old

    Hope u can assist
    Thanks

    Re: Hoover Fridge Freezer

The loud noise is possibly the fan motor (if it’s frost free).

    Model number please ?

    Dave.

Might be worth totally defrosting it first, as it could have built up that much frost on the hidden evaporator within the rear wall that the fan blades are catching on a build up of ice, when you turned it up to maximum.

    Re: Hoover Fridge Freezer

To be honest I havent defrosted my freezer yet. If I turned it of and stuck a pan of boiling water then shut the door, would this speed the process up.

Ive got nowhere to put my sons frozen goodies.

do you reakon also that the problem wont rectify itself if I just put up with the noise for a few days.

The problem is unlikely to rectify itself

You can avoid losing goodies by:

    1/. Wrapping goodies in Newspapers

2/. Placing goodies in Chilly bin, esky, etc

3/. Placing goodies in laundry tub with ice

By all means a tub of hot water would speed up the process. A fan heater would be quicker but be careful of plastic melting. Open doors are mandatory. And the fan heater option is definitely only to be used with all the safety gear. Do not use a hair dryer, a hot air gun or any other hand held device.
The heater should not be held nor should you put it in the freezer but on a shelf/cabinet at the entrance to the freezer. Do not leave unattended!!!

You can tell when all ice has been melted by the drain no longer having water dripping in it.

As soon as you are satisfied with the defrost you can turn the machine back on to test if you were successful

You can immediately reload the goodies

Do not attempt to remove the back panel as you could easily cause the machine major if not terminal damage.

If the problem persists an engineers visit is the only option
