    Hi guys,

Whilst fitting a new grill i noticed a few small holes in the upper cavity, i placed a little high temp oven sealant within the holes, however customer reports its smouldering, in hindsight it was a daft idea due to the close proximity of the grill, before i call it quits due to safety caution my last idea removing the sealant and drilling in a 1mm stainless steel sheet covering the area of holes? its kind of what have i not thought of that’s nagging me on this one….

assume its a normal cooker and not microwave

depends how big these holes are. there will be insulation above so very small holes should not be a problem

just depends what you mean by small

I’ve seen a lot more corrosion on oven cavities in the last few years. The biggest reason I feel is the growth of oven cleaning companies and the chemicals they use.
If an oven cavity is that corroded, I see no point in trying to save the oven, as rust will continue to spread.

its also down to cost cutting and using thinner steel
