Hi all,
Sorry but don’t know the model code.
It says Bosch Maxxx 6 on the front.Found ‘smoke’ in the drum after a full cycle with an extra spin dry at the end – not entirely convinced it’s actual smoke from something burning.
This is the 2nd time it’s happened.
Smoke doesn’t smell strongly like burned plastic, only a whiff of a plastic type smell, detergent smell overpowers.
Upon closer inspection, no evidence of burning seen but found small particles/powdery deposit around the whole circumference of the drum, appears to be from rubbing on the drum seal.
If I’m right about the origin of the mysterious smoke, is my machine still safe to use?
I’m guessing a fix would be expensive & labour intensive?
I’ve only found this forum today so will be looking into the smelly washing machine guide

from what your saying it sounds like the drum spider has failed
this will give you an idea but when some of them fail they only flex on spin and rub on the rubber and outer drum

In other words it is friction smoke. Usually when the spider rots and fractures it is new machine buying time.If you prove this fault and want to know how much the parts will be we`ll need the actual model number of the machine – on a label, on the inner door frame, towards the top of the door. Model begins with Enr: ……/.. The spider comes as a new drum complete on the Bosch models you can dismantle (though that is not that straight forward) but there are plenty of Bosch models that are sealed tanked which means a complete new tank unit. Either way not cheap to get done.
