    Hello,

I have the following weird problem with my Bosch slimline integrated dishwasher (SPV66TX00G/44), about 4.5 years old. It sometimes doesn’t heat the water in the washing cycle or dry the dishes at the end or both and if it doesn’t, it reports error E04 in some of these cases but not always. On top of it, we observed a pattern that if we don’t use the dishwasher for a couple of days, it works perfectly for next few days (for example for 5 days, 1 cycle per day) and only then it stops working again. This pattern was observed now many times but now it really goes on my nerves so I would rather fix it. If the heating fails, the cycle (most of the time we use Eco cycle) runs as usual, i.e., water circulates and drains, tablet dispenser opens, etc.

I suspected that there could be a water leak which would explain why a couple of days out of use “fixes” the problem. I opened it today but I cannot see anything which would indicate that.

I measured the heating element and it gives me 19.4 ohms.

Would anyone have an idea what the problem could be? I would be eternally grateful!

    Thank you!
    Kind regards,
    Jan

If heat pump has resistance as you say it will be a saftey relay faulty on the power module

on these machines the pump is used as a sensor to detect water. if the pump gives the wrong reading then the heater will not be turned on

first thing i would do is check for debris in the pump. if it has some it wont be much as it works every now and then

also check and clean the central filter. take filter and strainer out and check it

Thanks a lot, Kaibart and Dave.

I checked the filter but it wasn’t too bad, I noticed that the optical sensor in the filter bay was covered in junk so I cleaned that as well. I also looked at the PCB & relays but they all didn’t have any visible signs of issues. During the run the first water heating was fine but it didn’t work for drying and got E04 error at the very end.

What would you recommend next? Exchange the relays? Is there any sensor which would stop the water heating and I could measure?
    Thanks again,

first thing i would do is check the pump impellor for debris

take out filter , dry out water, remove the plastic piece on the pump inlet ( half moon shape)

you can then use a small mirror and a torch and look at the impellor

The e04 error is a power module fault one of the relays it has nothing to do with the heat or drain pump

a lot of posts on google it says its a flow E04 is a flow sensor problem

since the motor is also a sensor its an option

try a cycle your out of the box fix might just work

to see the impellor i use a small round mirror and a bright led torch

all it would take is a piece of plastic to change the electrical current when its rinning to make the module think its low on water. if its low on water it wont turn on the heater

after that its change parts time but which one thats the problem.

    Hi again,
Sorry for the delay, doing any experiments during the week is tricky.

I tried two cycles after the “vacuuming” the pump bay and both times it didn’t heat the first time (for washing) but it did heat fine for drying.

However, I have a new piece of information – I am quite sure that it is not due to the relays but the logic (sensor?) instead. This is what I tried now.

There are two relays for the heater, one switches Live, the other Neutral. The relays are switched on by up to 12V DC (that’s what was written on them) so I soldered cables to the switching coil of the relays and measured voltage while the dishwasher was running. If there was voltage but the power monitor didn’t show load, it would be clearly the relay fault, i.e., the logic wants to switch the heater on but one of the relays fails so there is no power on the heater so no load.

What happened instead is that shortly after the tablet dropped, both relays switched for a very short moment, perhaps 2 seconds. I could see the voltage on both of them and also the power monitor showed for a moment 2.5kW consumption. But after the second or two, the voltage on the relays dropped and the heater disconnected. I would say that such a case must be due to some faulty reading which triggers the logic to disconnect.

I will check again te bay with the mirror but I don’t think I will see much.

There are altogether 3 sets of cables to the heat pump – for the heater, for the motor and 3 thin ones, presumably for temperature measurement? Would you know what measurement should I get on those?

If you have any further ideas, please let me know.

well there are 2 identical NTC,s in the motor. they must measure the same otherwise it wont heat. since its unlikely both will fail its an easy check
