I’ve been asked to install a dishwasher (seen in the picture) which will require about 9 feet of drain hose. I’m thinking of bringing the drain hose along the floor till I get to the sink unit – then up to a loop at the top of the left-hand sink unit, and dropping down into a NEW appliance trap (replaces existing pipework as seen in picture). Any issues/suggestions? Thanks, Mark
The trap is going to be new – it’s not in the current arrangement shown in the photos. Sorry for any confusion.

yes i would take it at floor level and come up from there. less chance of air locks etc

Yup, that much hose it’s got at least a litre or water to try to shift before it gets anything moving. Then add gravity it has to fight.
That could be a problem and why I never recommend joined long hoses as a number of them just can’t deal with it.

Thanks for the input. It would be great if drain pump motors rated at a few more watts could be found for these situation – like 60w instead of 40w.
MarkIf I take the drain hose straight up at the back of the dishwasher, and then a gradual slope to the sink trap, that should help the pump motor as the majority of the drain water will gravity feed to the trap. But will this introduce a large section of air into the hose, and would that be bad?
