ParticipantHi, I have a Hisense washer (model no. WFQY1014EVJM) which is showing fault code F08, which I believe points towards the heating circuit. I’ve tested the element and the thermistor, both seem okay (element has resistance of 28 ohms, thermistor around 14k ohms). It happens on any cycle, even spin only.
Cycle starts, drum empties, cycle continues with various clicks and whirs and then stops after about 10 minutes with an F08 code. Seems to fill okay as well, but drum never turns.
I’ve tried all of the obvious, checking pump’s clear, no kinks in any hoses, blown down the water pressure sensor tube (thought it might be this as an F10 fault code came up a couple of days ago which I believe indicates a water level error?). Drum seems to move freely and no obvious damage etc.
Thinking it could be the PCB?
Any help gratefully received, thanks.

Moderatorhave you checked the heater to earth as slight earth fault can cause these sort of errors

ParticipantThanks Dave.
Just with a multimeter yes, I don’t have an insulation tester. Looks okay. I’ve disconnected the heater and tried again on a spin cycle but same result. The drain pump is running even though the drum is clearly empty, it doesn’t seem do this on a rinse+spin cycle though. Could be the level switch? Are they supposed to be open or closed circuit when the pipe is removed?

ParticipantOn a rinse+spin cycle the pumps runs for a few seconds then the drum fills about a third of the way (valve open for 10 seconds, off for 30 seconds, on for 10 etc until it reaches that level), then stops filling but I can hear the relay(?) clicking in the same pattern (every 10 and 30 seconds). After 10 minutes the F08 fault appears.
Cheers

Moderatorok at this point the only thing i can think of is to fool the machine
It may be sensitive to not having a heater and the heater may still be faulty
my answer would be to connect a lamp across the heater wires with the heater disconnected. it must be an old style lamp not LED. make sure wires are insulated and cant touch. does not have to be a high grade connection so just wrapping the wire round and taping it up will work as its not permanent
it will do 2 thing
1 it gets rid of any problem the element may be causing
2 you will find out if the clicking is the heater relay going in and out as the lamp will flashlong shot I know but its free to try

ParticipantWorth a try but still no joy, doing the same.
I’ve just noticed a faint flashing coming from the bottom of the machine in time with the clicking, by the motor. It’s an inverter model, not sure if that makes any difference, but I’ll look there next. It does seem as though the motor should be spinning at this point in the cycle.

Moderatorit does sound like something turning on and then crashing and repeating
although the fault code points to heater it could be an inverter fault as sometimes the fault codes are not accurate . problem is it can get expensive changing things to find out your wrong

ParticipantYeah I think that’s exactly what it is.
I’ve had the heater out and I’m sure that’s all okay. There’s a light on the motor inverter board that flashes for a few seconds after a click, then it goes off for 30 seconds and repeats. It’s at the agitation/spin phase of each cycle so must be motor related. £250 for a new motor and the machine’s only worth £300. Only 6 months out of warranty as well.
Grrr…

Moderatorwell if you pay hisense £168 over a year they will fix it and guarentee against any breakdown for a year
or you replace it
or you try to go after the retailer using sale of goods act as most people would expect an appliance of this type to last longer than 2.5 years
look it up online as you need to word it right to have any chance

ParticipantJust to update it was the inverter motor. Replaced and all okay. Common fault with these machines apparently, F08 fault code.
