ParticipantHi.
The machine did a wash where things went wrong and the door seal got dragged out of alignment. Probably the clothes didn’t distribute properly.
So I’ve removed and replaced the seal. But it attaches to the tub with a spring loop.
I do know how to fit these, but there is a concrete counterweight attached to the tub at the bottom that juts out leaving only a small gap that is too small to get your fingers into. This goes from approximately 4 o’clock to 8 o’clock. So it is just not possible to fit the spring the way I know how to do it (starting at the bottom and working it round with your fingers under it). I have tried a lot.
Does anyone know an alternative way that doesn’t involve removing the counterweight (which I don’t particularly want to do and which is probably not possible anyway due to inaccessible bolts)?
Many thanks,

KeymasterIt is possible and there’s a few ways to do it, none are easy.
With most of these you (seemingly) need at least three minature hands and even at that it’s not easy but essentially most it’s a case of getting the spring on at the top and working down to get it to spring into place working it around the aperture. They are a total PITA to change.
The alternative is a tub lift as we call it, lifing the entire drum group out, removing the weight and so on and that’s not an acceptable solution to replace a door seal.
Or, you pay someone to do it for you.

ParticipantWith the machine tilted backwards against a wall, with the door removed AND THE POWER OFF. The way I just to do these is to get a very long screwdriver, stick it through the door lock, then use a mole grip onto the screwdriver shaft between the door seal retaining area and the door lock with the mole grip about 1″ from where it is fitted. This then allows you to have a free pair of hands by also using your lower tummy or thigh to wedge against the s/.driver handle (somewhat inorthodox I know) but it does work. With the spring flipped over the s/driver you should now be able to feed the spring around tne circumference of the door seal. Normally I`d do this anti clockwise but given the smaller gap between the concrete weight and door seal you might want to attempt it clockwise as there will be slightly less tension. And yes they do not make it easy!
