ParticipantI can’t believe this just happened, everything was up and I was about the connect it, the last piece was the check valve/anti draft flaps. One of the little plastic nubs snapped off while I was installing it (I barely applied any pressure) and both the nub and the flap fell in.
Do I turn it upside down and get them to fall out?
I hope I haven’t just wrecked it.Here is a picture of what in talking about.
I’m not able to upload it here for some reason.October 21, 2024 at 11:46 pm #491528kwatt
KeymasterWhat hood is it as the obvious thing to do would be to strip out the motor unit and clean out any debris?

Oh god I hope that’s not the only way. I don’t want to void any warranties and I honestly wouldn’t even know what I’m doing. Would turning it upside down and gently trying to tip the 2 pieces out be a bad idea? It’s a Samsung hood, I don’t remember the name right now and don’t have access to it until tomorrow.

KeymasterI doubt whatever’s in there will come out that way or that you could be sure it was all removed.

Luckily both pieces fell out with out any problems as soon as I tilted the unit. I am very sure there aren’t any other pieces inside.
Is this flap important or can I just install a anti draught flap on the wall where the duct connects?October 22, 2024 at 7:03 pm #491532kwatt
KeymasterIt’s just an anti-draft so it not being there won’t effect how the hood works.

ParticipantFirst, gently turn the unit upside down and shake it to see if the pieces fall out. If that doesn’t work, using a vacuum with a hose might help suck them out. If neither method works, you may need to carefully remove the fan or access panel to retrieve the pieces. Be cautious not to cause further damage while doing this.
