Would any engineers still say dishwasher powder, even supermarket own-brands, are preferable over, say, Fairy Platinum Plus Anti-dull (which is currently Which?’s top detergent)?
I have used the above Fairy, and it certainly works very well, as does Sainsbury’s powder in the short time I’ve tried it. Even much smaller doses of powder appear to work well. However, I do note what engineers on here have said about how sufficient detergent, as well as the efficacy of the ingredients, matters to ensure the soiled water holds the soiling in suspension and takes it away, not leaving it on dishes/clothes, with things perhaps not being as clean as they look!
My main reasons for asking are in case advice has changed in recent years, as well as having a slimline dishwasher. I just wonder if tablets, like Fairy, might be a tad too much dosage-wise. We use separate salt and rinse aid, all set up for our local water.
I know Ariel biological powder has long since been recommended over capsules, liquid, etc., for washing machines, and I have found it works incredibly well on difficult stains that other detergents just will not shift. In a care situation, this has proven invaluable, and I want to ensure our clothes and dishes are as clean as possible for health reasons due to vulnerable people, though the perfume in Ariel is pretty strong!
Thank you!
