Hi, so Ive got a Neff dryer that’s giving problems. I’ve been told it runs for a bit then throws up the check filter light up. Once it’s stopped they can restart it again and it’ll usually run till the end without issue.

I’ve had a look at it, cleaned out the whole machine, cleaned out the pump and sump area and it’s still throwing up the check filter light.

I’m wondering whether it could be an NTC playing up. Failing that I suppose it could be the board

    any ideas much appreciated.

    thanks.

make sure you can see all the way through the condensor

hold the door filter up to the light and make sure its not blocked

remove the rear and check the heater for blockages also check the elements make sure they look straight and not twisted up

Machine is like new, condenser is spotless as is the door filter.

heater and the back panel are all clear and the element itself looks brand new

So after looking through the parts diagram I basically found there was 2 thermistors. 1 sits above the heater, the other in the front duct down by the filter.

there are also the moisture sensor bars at the front of the drum and thermostats above the heater.

I managed to find a service manual for a older Bosch vented dryer which basically explains that the filter light is caused when there is a temperature difference between the airflow into the drum from the heater and what the thermistor in the filter duct reads.

After testing both NTC’s with the multimeter and heating them up a bit both had values within the range I would expect and within the resistance range shown in the service manual.

despite this I ordered both NTC’s changed them both and it’s sorted the issue. The only thing I can think of is that once a certain temperature is reached one of the NTC’s is failing and giving wrong readings.
