KeymasterHi all,
i have just moved into a new house and have ‘inherited’ a hoover performa 110 washer dryer. The previous occupants left no manuals for us and we are having a couple of problems with the appliance.
Basically anythign washed in teh machine smells a it funny after it has been washed, the fabric softener doesn;t seem to be getting to the clothes as they are not soft, and there is always water left in the fabric softener compartment after a completed wash cycle.
Any ideas??
Thanks

Run the machine on a hot —90 oC wash once if not twice with no clothes in it — if it still smells run it on a 60oC wash with a dishwasher tablet in it.
Remove the soap dispenser and clean it thoroughly, pay attention to the fabric softener dispenser and the tube running fron it —it’s probably blocked.
Look into the compartment the dispenser was removed from, it’s probably full of gunge!!!!. Clean it out thoroughly–run the machine on a rinse cycle to wash out the gunge which has fallen into the drum—please replace the soap dispenser before running the machine.Hope this helps. 😆 😆

Hi there,
the dodgy smell is now gone after the 90 degree wash. Ths drawer is still filling up with water and not draining. I’ve taken out the the drawer and given it a thorough clean, but can’t see what ‘tube’ i need to clean that might be blocked. I’ll have another poke about when i get home tonight. Thanks

I think shadwell36 was referring to the ‘syphon tube’ that sits in the fabric conditioner compartment. Lift it clear and clean thoroughly inside and down the tube itself. Replace the syphon tube fully back in position before sliding the drawer back 😉

Hi al, thanks for all teh advice so far, but sadly we’re still getting the same problem as before.
i’ve totally cleaned out both the tubes that are in the fabric softener compartment, completely cleaned the drawer and the bit that it sits in , run teh boil wash and run a dishwasher table through. I’m still getting the water in the fabric softener bit at the end of the wash.
Any one got any other suggestions?
Thanks
Chris

Does the syphon action work if drawer is run under the sink tap?

Is the syphon tube actually there? Another thing to check is that the machine is level. Had this couple of weeks ago, wouldn’t syphon until machine was levelled.

Hi all,
at the back of the fabric conditioner tray, there are two upright tube which are open at the top.
On close inspection i’m struggling to see how this compartment can actually drain completely as once the water lever drops below the top of the tubes no more can drain away. And seeing as the height of the tube is almost the same as the depth of the tray then there is no where for the water to go.
If i’m not making sense i can try and post an image of the tray when i get home.Chris

Now imagine a second tube larger in diameter that slides over the tubes you can see, but with a gap at the bottom. when water goes down the tubes it pulls the water up the inside of the larger tube thereby sucking the water out of the conditioner compartment. Sounds like the cover is missing.

There’s a kit for this now, part number 97920946 which is the inner drawer complete and the upper part of the outer drawer. No other parts are available individually.
The kit is £12.38 inc VAT and delivery. I can order if required, an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk
This does inlvolve some dismantling of the machine to fit so if you are unsure of how to go about it check repairs@ for an engineer, or power off please :zap: if you fit yourself.
Dave.

Dave, if i’m just missing the cover from the inner drawer do i still need to take the machine apart to fit it?
What i’m think is that i buy the kit and replace the part of the inner drawer that is missing.I might also rake round the entire flat tonight looking for something that looks like it could be the missing cover.

It’s hard to imagine you would lose the syphon top from the Fabric conditioner Compartment. But if you have then in order to get it to work again you will have to buy a whole new Dispenser Assembly as Dave mentions, using the missing part from the new unit 🙁

There’s a technical bulletin refering to the drawer and it reads as if (and is confirmed by a picture) that the inner drawer has a different layout than the original which would require a new dispenser outer top as well, otherwise the water jets will go to the wrong compartment.
So, it’s either find the old missing one or fit the whole kit by the looks of it 🙁

there is definitely no cover on the top of the fabric softener compartment. It is open at the top all the wat to the back of the drawer.
As i said, we inherited this machine when we moved in so it’s possible the previous owners lost it.I’ll have a hunt round the house for anything that looks like a likely candidate. Failing that i’ll buy the replacement kit and just fit the parts that are needed.
