    Hi All

Does anyone have any experiance with these icemaker units, I have 2 of them doing the same thing?

If the icemaker mold is empty when I press the icemaker test button then it will complete the self test correctly including filling the mold with water, if however it has some ice waiting to be ejected then it will get as far as bringing the rotating fingers into contact with the ice and turn the mold heater on for only approx 30 seconds after which it will sit there and then silently fail the self test and return the fingers (in reverse) to the home position.

I can’t work out if it is just not leaving the heater on for long enough or if it hasn’t got the strength in the motor to push the ice round and out.
The mold heater draws approx 0.5A when it is on and it is definatley being turned off by the board so not just a bad wiring connection.
The Icemaker temp sensor measures out as okay.
I can just about hear the stepper motor that drives the fingers magnetically slipping when it stalls.
I have stripped one of the icemakers down to inspect all of the gearing etc and can see no faults.

These ice makers are an absolute pain to see into and even more difficult to live test as all the connectors are angled in such a way that you can’t back probe them.

Having been doing some research I have found that previous models have a technical bulletin (al be it not quite the same issue) which talks about getting a service kit that changes the icemaker and main module (Rumored to have a longer defrost time) as well as having to seal the housing joints with RTV.
I can’t find any reference to this model but wondered if maybe the temperature sensor could be getting affected by air getting through the housing joints and causing it to stop the mold heater early otherwise I may have to replace either or both the ice maker and the module (but in which order).

Does anyone know if there is a service buletin on this model and or a service kit? If not then I may just try the RTV first and see what happens.

    Jem
