    Bush gas cooker,
    AG56SW.
    Machine trips house electrics as soon as power is delivered to the plug.

    Looking for any tips on what to find inside as I will need to revisit this one due to parking permit red tape! (and it’s not one I would usually work on).

    Customer says machine will blow the house electrics as soon as it is switched on from the external wall socket. The Live pin was showing resistance to the Earth pin on the plug socket – so should be an easy one to fault find?

    The hobs and oven/grill are gas.

    No clocks or displays.

    Presumably, the only electrics inside will be to do with the ignition system?

    Anything known to cause this fault?

    that model is a built in electric oven not gas (see ASWO) made by vestel

    assume its a gas hob problem

    are you gas safe registered ? if no refuse it as hob has to be disconnected from gas supply to remove

    It was definitely a stand alone gas cooker with a 3amp plug. Single oven with grill, narrow/slimline unit. Said Argos somewhere on it.

    Regarding Gas Safe registered – Are we not allowed to work on electrical issues on gas appliances? Are you stating that we are not allowed to remove the gas inlet pipe?

    huge grey areas with gas

    I look at it from if i have to disconnect a gas pipe I walk
    but
    the weird one in that is the supply pipe , Its designed for the client to disconnect and i have disconnected them but i don’t think we are supposed to

    As for the short
    if its in an electrical element or its controls the we are ok

    if the electrical fault is in a component that controls or ignites the gas then its a no no

    Il clear this up you are not allowed to dis connect the gas hose unless your the household and has had it fitted buy a gas safe engineer, and regards the electric side if the mains lead goes into terminal block you would be OK changing that ,your not allowed to change a thermocouple even thou thats a electrical component as its a safety device kai

    Thanks for the replies.

    This is pretty much what I have been doing. If its duel fuel and i need to replace the fan element, all good.

    Everything else I bin it off.

    A tad quiet this week, hence wanting to earn on it!!

    know what you mean , a couple of very quiet weeks then calls coming out my ears

    dont do many these days so only need about 4 a day but already booking next week. kid back at school , holidays over and all the things that broke over the time need sorting
