Had a new dishwasher delivered today, also paid for installation as I wasn’t going to be there.

I had removed our previous machine the night before to make everything ready, (turning the water off in the process as it’s shared with the washing machine)

The wife answered the door, and I’d left a note before I went to work, including mentioning that the cold feed was on the Y-adapter (also denoted by a blue valve “tap” (we have an old hot feed with a red valve “tap” as well, hence pointing this out).

I do wonder if they found it difficult to connect the cold feed, because of the aquastop connector, to fit the new hose to the Y, and unfortunately my wife got called away as another delivery turned up at the same time.

I’ve got home and found they’ve only connected it to the hot feed – which means in it’s current configuration we have no washing machine, because the cold is turned off, and if I turn it on without capping the other branch of the Y were going to have a very wet floor.

Anyway, I have tried to fit the dishwasher to the cold feed, and I wasn’t happy with the connection, so I think I may need to modify the pipe work.

My thoughts are to get a ¾” BSP Elbow and a new Y adapter, or a twin hose adapter.

Something like this to change the direction to down, and twisted slightly forward.

Then this or this (or similar, valves not required) to share the connection to the machines.

Or I could just cap the unused branch of the Y (or remove it altogether and connect the washing machine direct to the valve, leaving the dishwasher on the hot feed.

    Thoughts please…

Forgot to mention, there’s a wall not far too the left of the pipes, which is why it’s difficult to install the new pipe, and I’m thinking of turning the connectors to face me.

One of those brass splitters should do the job well enough, if it was my own I’d probably do that.

I started with just the elbow – it doesn’t fit, the thread is too coarse (I now know the difference between BSP and, I presume, GHT (although it could also be NPT) threads)!

I am guessing the splitters are also GHT as they primarily talk about garden hoses. I have ordered a new elbow and tee that claim BSP in their description. Fingers crossed.
