Sorry guys, I’ve done a search to see if this topic has been dealt with before but I don’t know enough to be able to narrow it down..

We have an old Ariston oven. I don’t know the model/year & we don’t have the instruction manual–appologies again. 😳

It doesn’t work. I tried resetting the circuit breaker but that didn’t help. I checked where it was plugged into the wall–it’s fine. The clock still works. When I turn the knob for the temperature, there is a familiar “tick” sound, which makes me feel like the thing will work.. But when I select the setting (1-5), the light doesn’t come on, and it just doesn’t heat up.

Again, forgive my ignorance, but if anyone could help me troubleshoot to find out the problem, I’d be very grateful, as I can’t afford to have some guy come in and check it out.

Hi Nataly………Have a good look around, inside the door, under the door, on the back if it is not built in. You should be able to find some indication as to the model number, does it have a name as well as the brand name on it. Do any of the controls say ‘Auto’ , if it has accidentally been set to Auto it will not come on. There are so many different ways to set oven controls, if you don’t have a manual or a model number it is just a case of twiddling with the various timer controls until you find how to cancel the Auto function.
If you can find a rating plate and model number then manuals are available online following the link at the top of this forum.

NB. There are 75 different models listed under Ariston built in ovens.

Hmmm.. That’s the trouble.. There are cabinets built around it, and I can’t pull it out. It doesn’t have an “auto” feature, unfortunately–would have been nice to have such an easy fix! It only has three knobs. One that goes from “min” to “max”, one that selects the temperature, and one which ajusts the settings (0, light, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

I’ll try taking some of the cabinet apart.

    HA!!

You are gonna laugh so much… The *second* circuit breaker was tripped.. Reset it, and *voila*, it works.

Well, at least now I know how to take out my oven–it’s ***** heavy, by the way!

Thanks for your help–though I looked everywhere & couldn’t find the model number. I think it’s worth me finding it, though, now that it’s out (will turn power off beforehand).
