KeymasterMy dishwasher has started to overfill. I’ve had the cover off and the machine appears to be draining correctly so I attempt a new wash.
The first operation is to fill up.
Water passes through the inlet valve, through an air gap, in and out of a water softener and into a tank compartment in the matrix. When the tank capacity has been breached water flows into the sump via another compartment that contains a float. The float operates a microswitch which turns off the water valve. When the tank has finished emptying into the sump and float compartment the microswitch reopens the inlet valve to allow more water.
The above sequence is repeated twice more before the machine enters the next stage of the cycle.
Now the problem is that on the second and third sequence water overflows from the compartment containing the microswitch. After a few washes the bottom of the machine is full of water and a cut out switch prevents further operation.
I’ve checked all the components mentioned above and they all seem to working ok, I’ve also replaced the inlet valve but I can’t work out what is causing the problem. Any ideas?July 2, 2005 at 6:46 pm #140139litlor

SORTED!
Cleaned out the hose and it worked straight away just like you said it would.
I wish I’d asked on here earlier, I’d been on that fault on/off for nearly a year and in the last few days I’ve become obsessed with it 😕
I’d studied all the parts and waterways leading up to the measuring tank but it never occured to me to check the path leading away 😳
So a very big thank you 😀July 2, 2005 at 11:16 pm #140142Penguin45

Sump hose is a “backwater”, so sludge accumulates over time – it’s a well known and repetative problem on older Bosch, Seimens and Neff dishwashers, and regularly discussed in these forums.
However, well done.

I’ve just found and cleared a fault on the pressure switch that is built into the inlet valve.
This all makes sense now, originally the machine used to stop twice in the wash cycle and I had to manually advance it.
Eventually the machine got worse and I ended up with the fault as described in my first post. It must of got worse when the pressure switch occured.
This may be of help here
