EG 74630 OKO Lavamat stops abruptly

My washing machine occasionally stops in the middle of the main washing cycle. It shows no error code, just keeps displaying the time remaining, doing nothing.

Today, I cleaned the drainage pump filter, where I found a hairpin and some soft rubbish. I suspect there may be some impurities gathered in the system.

What would be the best way to get rid of any garbage and in general clean the machine internally?

Any other suggestions are cordially welcome.

Regards to all from sunny Helsinki!

Try a service wash – hottest temperature cotton wash, add an egg-cupful of thick bleach and run the programme. Some people use soda crystals or dishwasher powder rather than bleach. Ensure that the machine runs the entire programme, so the rinses flush away the additives. Check the filter afterwards, you may be surprised what collects!

The sticking in the wash is curious – has the machine heated the water at that point?

Just thinking about your complaint about programme stopping, can you hear any clicking noises coming from the machine (at top right hand side rear) if so common fault water distributor faulty but this should bring up a fault code??????? Just read the service manual on this and any fault will bring up a fault code

    Same Problem Lavamat 72630

    Hi I have the same / similar problem with a Lavamat 72630-W (Typ 47A CD CA 10A) PNC 914 002 096 00

Basically it will start any program and then stop after a few minutes (around 6-8 minutes). I guess this is because it is not heating the water ? However sometimes it will go further through a program and then stop before it completes the rinse cycle (and the water is heated to temperature).

At no pioint are any error codes displayed – is there any way to force it to do a diagnostic? – it says it is an update model (are there any updates for these machines – can it be reset?)

I don’t really want to get an engineer out and pay the call out if it is a service module or something costing £200 as I would put the money to a new machine – this one is 5 years old. But if it is something simple that I can do, then I would like to have a go. Any ideas – is there any way to get a service manual?

    Many thanks in advance

If it wasn’t heating it would display an error code (in theory at least).

As this isn’t displaying any you will need an engineer to be honest with the relevent sercvice information. Yes, they can be forced to display error codes there are also diagnostic cycles but the information is only available to engineers I’m afraid (copyright and all that ;))

The only possible thing I can think of is the door lock but normally all the lights would go out, is this happening ?

Check Repairs@ for an engineer near you if you need one 🙂

Re: AEG 74630 OKO Lavamat stops abruptly

    Dave,

Thanks for your reply – the lack of any form of error code is a nuisance. I am not prepared to spend money on it with no guarantee of which part(s) it may need, so it looks like it will have to go in the bin which is a shame as it is / was a decent machine. If it were to need a new control module, this would cost more than the machine is worth at 5 years old.

The door lock is fine, lights stay on & time remaining stays stuck until I manually turn it to rinse, or pump out / spin etc. But it is the initial wash cycle that does not go through which is not ideal.

I can appreciate that the service information is priviledged (not copyright as you would only be making less than 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the documnet available 😉 – after all it keeps engineers in business, but without being able to make an intelligent guess at costs….

Do you know if it is at all possible to get AEG customer care to send service codes through?

    Thanks again

It’s very unlikely as many have tried before but you’re welcome to try.

If memory serves correct this machine has the same control system as the Zanussi which means that only certain error codes are visible to the customer (filling, draining etc) heater / motor etc codes are stored in the memory and can only be viewed in the diagnostic program. Would be very surprised if AEG customer care will give you the relevant info but it seems a real shame to just bin it.

OK, there is another thread in this forum where some one has nailed down the problem to a dirty main circuit board that is covered by carbon soot that some how locks the programme (stuck in time) and the clock does not move any further. I had the same problem and after reading his thread I opened the top cover of the machine and after locating and cleaning the circuit board (with CB cleaner or spirit), I re assembeled it and it is working fine. Find that thread because it has pictures too of the circuit board.
