    I have a SMEG FR158 under counter fridge that has stopped refridgerating. The light still works but no cold air. Does anyone know if this is a common fault and what could be the cause/how to fix?

    Are the model and serial no.s.

    Hi can you hear the compressor running is it hotter inside the cabinet than normal ambient temp if you’re lucky it is only the thermostat!

    Hi, Thanks for the swift reply: there is no noise coming from the compressor at all. The temp inside the unit is just room temperature – no hotter or colder.

    Good sounds like the thermostat is open circuit not an expensive repair even if you call the professionals in

    Sounds promising, so its likely to be the thermostat or the compressor?

    Any info on the parts and repair needed would be helpful – so I have some knowledge when I get an engineer in.

    Is this web site best to contact an engineer in my area?

    Hi,

    I had the same problem. The SMEG engineer came out and £65 and 65 seconds later her told me it was dead.
    The gas had leaked out of the sealed system and it connot be fixed.
    I think it is over 5 years old.
    I’ve just found a new version of this fridge for around £250.
