ParticipantHi,
Can you help please? My Zanussi zcg7900xn which i think is about 2 or 3 years old suddenly stopped working. the main oven switches on, light comes on and ignition fires, but there is no gas coming out. The second oven continued to work after this fault for about 3 days, but it has also stopped now. The second one only stopped after i tried to pull the oven out to check round the back for anything obvious (what i was looking for, god only knows!! 😳 )
So, now i have no gas to either oven, even though the ignition and all 4 of the hobs work absolutely fine. Ive checked that the timer isnt set to auto, but i do not know if there is a safety trip switch i should be looking for, and where i would find it or what it looks like?
Any advice greatfully received!
cheers
Tony. 😀

It’s engineer time, a Corgi registered one. Please have a look in repairs@ for one or let us know the first part of your postcode 😀

great 🙁
apparently there are no engineers registered for my area – SL1.
So, why do you say its corgi time, is this not some safety trip issue? can you give any advice on what you think the problem might be?

Safety trips would generally cut the whole oven out (including the timer etc) and as the electrical side appears to be OK, then it’s a gas control problem.
My thoughts originally were the timer but it’s a little odd that the ovens failed at different times. Also looking at the diagram on this model the small oven doesn’t appear to have a timing function on it.
A most odd fault all round to be honest, also the gas supply to the hob is OK so that rules out any connection issues.
I’ll check a couple of lists I have at home later for a Corgi engineer in your area 😀

Could be both FSD’s, not unusual as they are quite unreliable.

well i am a corgi reg engineer and i do do alot of cookers so you problem lies with ffd or thermocouple. If ffd fitted then the solanoid may be sticking,or jst a loose connection from the timer.. 😉

Thanks daza but don’t forget the repair must be carried out by a Corgi registered engineer, the guys I posted are covered for gas repairs in your area Tony.
