ModeratorI notice Portway are flogging a new twin tub. Under the brand “king cool” (WTF? :con: ) Looks like one of the types I saw in Japan.

KeymasterLOL, “King Cool”, sounds like a dodgy old Elvis movie! 😆
No doubt it will be of Oriental origin,I’d wager Chinese. I’m sure I heard something about this in that DAD or Portway were after the niche TT market in the UK but I’d have thought that most people of the age that would want one of these was either dead or just about to shuffle off this mortal coil. 😆
Not so sure that there’s a market to sustain them as I’ve certainly not been asked about a toploader or TT in many a long year, but I may be wrong.

I’ve noticed a niche in the market.
Old Hotpoint toploaders leaking down the power unit (when was the last time you fitted one of those?)
Couple this with a stupid kitchen fitter (the husband) and there’s a great need for washers that are only 23″ instead of 23.5″.
No?

I’ve seen the top loaders in a scrap yard.
All thats left after you take out the motor is a nice blue plastic pedal bin.
There’s your niche in the market. Once It’s sh***ed it recycles itself.

Haven’t seen one of these in the flesh as yet, but what I have noticed about the picture is:a) it seems to have feet rather than rollers, you know how the old ladies with twin tubbs like to roll them into some specially made cupboard, well with this they may be dissapointed.
b) the picture supplied by portway (and the one Don has linked to above)shows the drain hose on the side of the machine. This is of the type used in Japan and elswhere that empties into a drain under the machine via a dump valve, if they think this is going to empty into a sink they will again be dissapointed. If anyone has seen one of these (there seems to be several all of a sudden) please check this out for me.

Sold loads of Thompson twin tubs over the past 18 months ,infact could barely keep up with the demand. They are blooming good machines too, get the washing very clean and with a drain pump to boot! More of this please.
