Bosch Logixx KGU32165 upright F/F (frost free).

For the last few days, there has been a sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer section (ie underneath the bottom drawer). Today, the alarm is going off and the freezer is defrosting.

I removed the internal back panel inside the freezer section and saw that the internal fan (#489442) is not working. Could this be the cause? (the external fan at the back of the fridge is working fine).

The internal freezer elements behind the panel seemed to be still coated in ice, so still functioning (???).

(Have had the unit for ~3 years. Two months ago moved it from our old kitchen to the new one – wheeled it upright, gently – don’t know if this is relevant).

Thanks in advance for any help!

The fan should be running pretty much all the time so it may have failed but it’s more likely to be a thermistor or the pcb playing up or the defrost heater.

Is there an ice blockage under the coils stopping the defrosted water from draining ?

    Dave.

Dave – Many thanks for the reply.

When I got home yesterday I found the freezer had re-frozen itself, and was still fine this morning, with no ice build up at the bottom.

Maybe there was a blockage, as you suggested, which cleared itself when the freezer defrosted.

    Cheers
