KeymasterCould anyone tell me what the temperature inside a freezer should be?
We have borrowed a friends small- and old- chest freezer as our previous upright died a sudden death ( thermostat) The make is not known but on the back it says made in Italy and the number IAR. if thats any help. It is white with a brown trim and looks quite ancient. We used the chest freezer yesterday for the first time for a couple of years and it seems to be doing fine. (only half full) However. the “SUPER” light is on and the temp inside is at -23deg. (using a hi – lo – thermometer this is constant)I am wondering if this freezer has a problem too!! ….motor is constantly running.I cannot see or find a button to take it off what i suppose is super freeze and changing the temp isnt having any effect.
THanks for your advice

ParticipantThe temperature hould be -18 deg Centigrade.
The super freeze button runs the compressor constantly for extra cooling.
Turn the superfreeze off and adjust the thermostat once every 24 hrs until -18 is obtained (+/- 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d})July 10, 2005 at 7:28 am #141068admin

Thanks for that.
I cannot find anywhere to turn the superfreeze off though! – looked everywhere!!
could it maybe be hidden?July 10, 2005 at 7:44 am #141069alexa
ParticipantThe light itself may be the switch.
The uk boys will advise when they come on line
Cheers from Oz
Never turn a thermostat up and down within 10mins as turning the compressor on immediately after turning it off will cause compressor lock up with possible loss of compressor

hi roda
the super light may be a push type where you push the light in to turn it off or a rocker type where you press one side of the light.

KeymasterRe: freezer Temperature
Just a quick update, the freezer has been running for 36 hrs now with the superfreeze light on. The temp inside is at -25deg. The motor is constantly running. I cannot find a way to switch the superfreeze off.
I do not know the make or model. It is an old small chest freezer, white with brown trim and handle. The label, was on the handle but has cone off at some point.
Hope this helps
Regards and thank you again
