KeymasterPlease help
My (old) large Creda tumble dryer appears to have finally given up the ghost – after 3 years of squeaking in the garage (!!) it now continues to turn but only blows cold air into the drum! Can anyone help me to get whatever part I need to try and fix it – I have pretty good DIY skills and hope this is one of those things I can repair myself (but am not too proud to realise when I can’t! 😳 )?
Also one of the lugs is broken from the lint trap that sits in the door – is it also possible to get a new one of these ❓
I have tried the local repair site, but there are no repair folks in my area (NR25).
Hope you can help – the nos on the back read: J8710C 03954 and 37444 001RLV
Many Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
Alec

No heat will almost ceratinly be the thermostat under the heater box cover at the back – part number is 1740235. Filter support (the collander) is p/no 1740593.
An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get things moving for you.
Power of when looking under the rear cover please. :plug:

Changing the t/stat may solve your problem, but I think on that machine there is a thermal fuse (microtemp) in the wiring to the t/stat and this may need to be replaced if for some reason the machine has overheated.
Just a thought if replacing the stat doesnt solve the problem.

If it was squeaking, prior to failing, i’d have thought that the blower fan may be seizing and causing overheat? if so, that’ll have to be sorted or it’ll go again

The fan is attached directly to the motor on this machine, so the drum would not be revolving if motor was failing, squeaking is mostly caused by jockey pulleys or rear drum bearing, not the main motor. The stat and/or the microtemp will more than likely have failed with age.

Again – thank you all for your advice.
If I manage to fix the temp, problem (I am waiting for the parts), what should I be looking for, in the back, that will help me to identify the source of the squeak (which I am ashamed 😳 to admit has been going on since I was given the machine several years ago!) ❓

Lay the machine on its back. Remove small access panel (4 screws). Look in and you will see two arms with wheels at the end – these are the belt tension (or jockey) pulleys. A few drops of oil will usually shut them up. Do not use WD40 or other aerosol lubricants, you will get it on the belt.
Power off, of course.

KeymasterMany thanks to everyone for all of your advice – its working a treat again (including the removal of the squeak).
The wife thinks I’m amazing again(!) and the washing is no longer a huge mountain waiting for the sun to come out!
Many thanks
Alec
