Hi, can anyone help? I have a Diplomat washer/dryer which is leaving small black oily specks on my washing. Also the dryer doesn’t seem to work at all. Nor do I have a manual (just moved in to rented accommodation). Can anyone help? With anything?
    Many thanks!

Does the spin sound quite noisy as well Melissa ?

It may be the bearings if it’s oily spots, you could try running the machine through a hot wash (90C) with no clothes but a small ammount of detergent to remove any bacterial build up in the drum.

For the user manual, contact MFI Extracare on 08457 959722.

The drier needs to have the half load button depressed to operate which is probably why that isn’t working 😉

    Dave.

    Hi Dave,
Posted a reply the other day but it seems to have gone down. Thank you for your advice, it’s much appreciated. Yes the spin is quite noisy – do you think there is a problem and are Diplomat goods known for being unreliable? Today we are trying it empty on a hot wash as suggested, hopefully that will deal with the black marks.
Called up for a manual, they want to charge me £5 + p&p. I asked if it could be emailed but they haven’t got back to me…

    Hi Melissa

The black marks are caused by oil leaking from the drum bearings….bad enough but inevitably it means water will have penetrated the bearings which points to drum bearing failure i’m afraid (hence the noisy spin)….I would recommend you stop using it until an engineer has had a look as more damage could be done (thus increasing the repair cost)

Have a look in Repairs@ to see if you have an engineer near you.
