    Hi Guys
we have had a problem with our chest freezer lid being left open overnight (too full of food). Now it is not freezing at all.
With power on we have the red temperature alarm light and green power light.
Occasionally there is a quietish whirring noise from the back but not the same noise as previously (although the compressor does get red hot if it is switched on). The compressor is a Danfoss 4635 102H as far as I can see with r600a refrigerant gas.
I have been told that it is likely to be the compressor and that also it would be better in the long run to purchase a new freezer rather than get my old one repaired.
Do you think the compressor has given up the ghost, and if so, is it more economical to get a new freezer?
    Many thanks
    James

Very likely the compressor I’m afraid.

Is it still iced up inside ? If it is, a complete defrost may help, it you’ve already done that, then new freezer time in all honesty.

    Dave.

    Hi Dave
Oh well. I was sort of expecting that news!
No ice in there at all. Expensive lesson learnt!
    Thanks for your help anyway

    James
