KeymasterHi Group
I need some advice and you guys seem knowledgeable to help out!My washer doesn’t want to spin, i’ve checked the weight of the washing and it hasn’t made any difference also the distribution of the weight. I have checked the drain filter and checked for kinks in the drain pipe all are fine.
Also the belt is still in place and hasn’t snapped or fallen off. (could it be slipping?)
BTW its kind of difficult to get into am I right to assume the only access to the motor/belt etc. is via the top cover?
thanks group

Does the drum turn at all? Do you carry out many 90 degee washes?

The problem is most likely the motor brushes have worn out although it is possible the electronic module that controls its speed has let go.
If you are unsure how to tackle the diagnosis then time to call an engineer 😉
You could try Repairs@ to see if there’s an engineer near you?

Thanks Clive,
I do consider myself quite handy so if it isn’t too difficult i should be okay, any ideas how best to diagnose whether it is brushes or the electronic module?
thanks again

Removal and visual inspection of motor brushes will confirm. Unplug first before checking :zap:

Thanks Simon,
There is no access panel on the back of the washer, so i’ll have to go in from the bottom, so I don’t do any 90 degree washes! 😉
I kind of know what to expect when I see the brushes but how will i know if they are worn out? Presumably they’ll be half the size or less of the replacement brushes, but what size would this be?Appreciate the help.

They will be 1mm long instead of 2inch long.
Or if one of the brushes is dull.
The problem is, some of those Zanussi’s have phillips screws to hold in the brushes, and some have 5.5mm nuts. You may need professional help. It’s not easy at all! 😯
Make sure the appliance is isolated from the mains, and make sure it won’t drop on your head!
