ParticipantHi there – I hope someone can help me please.
We’ve seen the above semi-integrated machine for sale in the local paper and wondered if anyone had an idea of how old this machine is? Unfortunately the seller doesn’t know as he’s selling it on behalf of someone else.
Also I’d be interested in any opinions on how reliable the machine is.
Below is a link to an image of the machine in question.
Thank you in advance

Could you ask the seller for the product code please, I should be able to tell the date of manufacture from that (it’s around the door somewhere, begins Enr).
Favorit 545 is a fairly old model though, at least 8-10 years I would say.
Apart from that, AEG on the whole are fine and pretty reliable 😀

Hi Dave
Thank you very much for your reply.
The code is ENR 606.384 196
If it is 8-10 years old, would you say thats old for a dishwasher? Or is it worth buying (Its up for £50)?
Thank you again, I really appreciate your advice.

1993 manufacture year, so it could be anywhere between 8 and 11 years old.
Although it’s a good quality appliance it’s nearing the end of life to be honest, unless there has been a few major components replaced very recently or it’s hardly been used then it’s worth next to nothing in all honesty.

Hi Dave
Thank you very much for your reply, thats really useful and will have saved me £50.
Sorry, but I’ m a complete newbie when it comes to appliances- could you clarify something please, when you say the manufacture year is 1993 so it could be between 8 and 11 years old, why is there a possible variation between 8 and 11 years? How come its not 12 years ie 1993-2005.
Do you have any recommendations for dishwasher brands to go for or avoid. I though Bosch were meant to be good, but from looking through the forum there seems to be a lot of faults.
Thank you again Dave,
Amanda

It’s very unlikely an appliance will be sold within a few months of manufacture, although it’s possible.
Factory to despatch, central distribution point to main distributor, then to the retailer, it can take months, even a couple of years sometimes.
Also, the manufacturer may have made “too many” for the intended market and have to store them…. hence the variations.
Bosch are fine on the whole, a lot better than most. We pick up a lot of Bosch enquiries due to the power of Google 😉
As long as you stay within the realms of the better known names and don’t assume that all appliances are the same and buy the cheapest you won’t go far wrong 😉
You gets what you pay for as the old saying goes 😀
