Hi, I have a Hotpoint Aquarius (WMA34) which has just developed a leak. At this stage it isn’t huge but after every wash there is a small pool of dirty water which has probably come from underneath it. Are Hotpoints prone to leaks and what’s the easiest way of finding the cause ?
    Thanks in advance

All washing machines are prone to leaks at some stage in their life to be honest.

The dirty water is rusty water by the sound of it, and I guess it’s noisy on spin as well ?

If it is, the bearings have failed and depending on how old it is, it may be worth contacting Hotpoint directly as they have a 5 year parts guarantee.

    Dave.

Dave, many thanks for the prompt reply. Yes, the machine in general is pretty noisy but especially so on the spin cycle. It is less than 5 years old so I’ll get in touch with Hotpoint. Do the bearings come with any sort of seal or does that need to be ordered as well ? What sort of labour charge can I expect for fitting this ?

    Thanks, John

You won’t need to order anything, the engineer should have it all on his van.

I believe Hotpoint charge in the region of £80 to carry out repairs, they will advise you of this when you book the call though.

    Dave.

Well it is a Hotpoint…in my opinion, they are the worst possible appliances you can buy.

I have a 10 year old washing machine in my garage, ready to be skipped but may not as it is better than the new £350 Hotpoint (Aquarius) garbage I recently bought.
