    Hi

I have just replaced the heater element in my washer as the old one had burnt out. I have not been able to discover the reason that it burmt out but have checked for water blockages etc just in case it was due to lack of water but all is ok and both jets are working.

Now this may seem a dumb question but I really don’t know, the element that I replaced is this the element that dries the dishes too? in other words will the element still heat up with no water present? I am just doing final checks before putting the washer back together and have just done the final rinse program, when i open the door after the water has drained I can hear the heater hissing as the water runs off. I am just a bit worried that the element may burn out again.

    Thanks

    Tony

Yes, it’s the same element but the heat to dry is generated while it still has water in it, the dishes dry by evaporation mainly.

As long as the water level is ok then it should be fine.

    Nice one, cheers Dave

I will give it a proper go and see what happens.

Should I be worried about not finding a reason for the old element burning out or is this something that will happen eventually?

    Regards

    Tony

I can’t really answer that without seeing the dishwasher to be honest. The liklehood is there is no underlying cause but I can’t rule it out 😉
