KeymasterHi,
this site is great but I cant find an answer to my problem. Just moved house so blaming the removalists.
When I fill the mcahine with water the whole drum tilts to the right so is out of balance.
have pulled apart and all 4 arms seem to be connected ok. There is only one spring on the front left side but looks ok.
If i look in the bottom the centre of the drum doesnt seem to be sitting over the hole cut out in base.
Cant see anyting broken off or missing to my knowledge.
Can anyone help?
Hopefully it is something really simple.August 8, 2005 at 11:00 pm #144289Penguin45

It more or less has to be the drum suspension springs, especially as the appliance has been moved. The top deck has to be removed (with the power off) to allow access, but should be a straight forward fix when you can see what’s going on.

Thanks. I’ll have another look tonight. When you say the suspension springs do you mean the 4 straight arms? The only coiled spring that exists is the one I mentioned in the last message at the left hand front.

Fiona-Anne,
The rods terminate in springs down at the tank bottom. At the top, they should be hooked into a kind of plastic corner piece. There are circular recesses around the tank base which the rods should slot into.Good luck, let us know how you get on.

:lesson: This is why the user manuals say to hang on to the transit bolts and refit them if the machine is to be moved. :lesson:

I have the same thing a few times after moving machines.
There is a inner and outer tube over the springs near the bottom of the bowl. sometimes when moved it will lift up and the outer gets stuck on the inner.Just push down on the agitator it should slip down to the normal position with a bit of pressure, otherwise jiggle it up and down a bit until it will push down with out leaning to one side.

User Manual???
Still persevering. I seem to have the drum back in a happy place. I have leveled the machine as the floor it is on is not quite square. It is being very temperamental and sometimes I get a full cycle through, most times it goes out on over balance alarm when it gets to spin cycle.
Might be time to retire it and get a new one.August 23, 2005 at 2:50 am #144295FastAndPro

Sometimes the later model F&Ps the small plastic part on the top cracks allowing the drum to drop.
If the spring is connected on the front LHS and the machine is level most times the machine will work and the drum will be in the possition in the manual.
(bits of paper stapled together in the sealed plastic bag 🙂 ) If it is not in the centre slightly forward thats important you have a problem with the suspension legs.September 15, 2005 at 6:39 am #144296hamster6789

Hi there,
I have a slightly different problem to the one above but i think the problem still lies in the suspension arms. Before a spin, these washing machines sense whether or not the bowl has reengaged. Mine is telling me that it hasn’t even when it actually has. I watch it with the lid off and the outer is moving in unison with the inner. However, if i hold onto the not rotating cover to the outer bowl to stop it from moving during these pulses, the machine is happy and begins its spin cycle. Also when it first accelerates the spin cycle, it often throws the whole assembly around a fair bit. Im not sure if that is normal either.
Is there anything you are aware of that would cause the outer of the bowl to throw so violently?
