I have just received this simmerstat…see this thread.

Having been used to Hotpoint’s parts supplies for many years that normally come with details of any mods this one is in a plastic bag with an 18 inch long white wire. However there are no instructions as to what to do with it. ( clean suggestions only please ) 🙂Re: New World/Stoves
If it’s that long I would guess it’s to renew the one from stat to the ring. Perhaps they burn out, like some tumble drier stat wires.

To be honest it doesn’t look as though it is supposed to carry a heavy load. As the cooker is only 2 years old I am going to have a look and hope that this one is the same as the original.
The original control is just flopping around, this new one looks cheap and nasty as well, not a patch on Diamond H.
