ParticipantHi, I have a DIPLOMAT Integrated Dishwasher Model No. ADP8234 Type 12043. Having finished a cycle I opened the door to find the water had not drained. On trying to select a cycle I was unable because the following code was permanently displayed
capital letters PC followed by a symbol which looked like a sun i.e. the way you would draw the sun as a child then a symbol that looked like a backward wriiten S with arrows at the ends of the S
Thanks

The sun and arrow lights are, respectively, the low rinse aid and low salt indicator lights telling you that you are low on these commodities.
The ‘PC’ display is an error code but it should be in the format of E6 or similar (E1-E9).
E6 is the code for not draining; it’s possible that there is a display fault with your control board. As for the machine not draining there’s probably a blockage either in the pump (probably a job for an engineer – check Repairs@) or in the sump – check your filter and the filter housing. There’s a little round black rubber flap at the back of the sump. Lift this up and give the channel behind it a good clean with a pipe-cleaner or similar. They’re known to clog up after a while.
Watch out for broken glass as well. It wouldn’t be the first time a glass had smashed in a dishwasher and blocked the sump. You usually feel it before you see it.Craig

Thanks Craig for your quick reply, will have a tinker with it tonight. Oh yes before I forget what do you mean by “low rinse aid” again many thanks this is the first time I have used such a forum and am very impressed.

Rinse aid is a solution that makes water ‘wetter’ and causes it to run off the dishes easier thereby aiding the drying process.
It comes as a separate item if you’re using powder detergent (as most in the trade would recommend). If you use the 3-in-1 or 4-in-1 tablets then the ball (usually red) in these tablets is the rinse aid and you shouldn’t add any extra.
If you use separate rinse aid the indicator light comes on to tell you when it’s time to top it up. It’s in a compartent next to the detergent/tablet compartment and should have a little round viewing window for you to check the level.Craig

Craig,
Cheers mate, pump was blocked with glass, and other gunk, removed glass not only from the pump but also from my finger, you did warn me eh! blasted gunk with a hose pipe. Had to switch off and on which drained water that was left from hose pipe and the PC capital letters reset so I could set a programme. Dishwasher workin fine. The no salt and low rinse aid lights are still on. I have filled the salt dispenser but use three in 1 tablets so assume the low rinse aid light will remain displayed. as for the no salt sun symbol will ave to live with
Excellent diagnosis Craig many thanks saved me quite a bit in call out fees and took about half hour to sort out
