I used to like the facility Homespare offered where they would send an odd small item by post and just charge the postage. They seemed to stop doing this for a while but it looks like they now offer this service again. I needed a pair of grill door hinge springs, part No. 7638 for a Belling Compact cooker and thought Homespare would be the best bet for old stuff like this but was not ready to make up a big order. I tried ordering them on their own and was just charged £1.88 postage. Thanks Homespare.

    Spoke too soon….

…. The springs arrived, together with an invoice by separate mail. The invoice does include the £5 handling charge. The email confirmation of the order does not show this handling charge. Sneaky or what?

    Re: Wot, no Handling Charge!

Phil, has our apologies and a credit has been issued.

The whole purpose of http://www.homespare.com is to be completely engineer friendly.

For customers who wish to buy on the web, there is NO HANDLING CHARGE, and NO MINIMUM ORDER, we only charge postage and packing which starts from £1.35 depending on what you buy.

Once you reach £50, then we will supply everything carriage free.

Once again, I am sorry that Phil has had this experience, but this concept is at a very early stage for us and mistakes will be made (as in this case), but the end product will be worth waiting for, and as long as we get the opportunity, we will always endeavour to put things right.

    Best regards

Thanks John. As you will appreciate, my initial post was intended to praise Homespare but it now seems this praise was justified anyway. 😀
