Keymasterhave varified that the heating element is not defective and overtemp. switch is also not faulty. Have checked the thermostat, this gives a reading of 19k ohms at ambiant temp. and 3k ohms at approx. 40-50 C.(heated with hair dryer). With heater supplied with an independent supply and machine started at program 2 water was heated to 60 C, heater’s supply was then switched off, machine then continued to complete the program.
Traced the two yellow wires from the thermister. these go to the circuit board. Checked for continuity of both wires. both o.k. Can i assume the fault lies in the circuit board or could it be somthing else ??

Slightly confused here Roy. Your heading says “Not heating”, yet your (very thorough) testing says that the machine will complete the 60c wash?
Perhaps you could expand a bit more? Is it one specific temperature that doesn’t function? That would indicate a board failure.

Sounds like it!
The board can be repaired via EMW Electronics (Tel 0115 9652118) Quoting Board reference no: REMCO 5036 😉

Hi
Sorry penguin45 if my description of fault has confused you.
Initial fault was machine does not program on once filled with water and water not heating up.
I have checked out the heater for continuity and down to earth, also the over temperature switch & thermistor, {results as above}.checked for continuity between heater and conection on programmer all ok. I then disconected machine wires from heater, made up a ‘slave’ lead to supply the heater direct from the mains ie. 13amp plug length of cable and two spaid connectors. rigged up a surface temperature probe adjacent to the heater Set the machine to program 2 allowed to fill, programmer moved one click on from start position[by its self], switched on the heater The water was heated to 64 C, supply to the heater was then switched off. Programmer remained at one click past pos2.After a period of about 10 15 mins programmer still in same position. Manually turned programmer one click, machine then proceded through remainder of program.
My delemer is the machine is still under 5yrs. parts warranty but it will cost £90 to get Hoover out. If the fault is in the module I can replace it for £34. if the fualt is in the programmer it may be a diffrent story.

Hi
Sorry Penguin45 have just read the rest of your reply, i think the fault is on all programs, i will run another test this evening and report back.August 10, 2005 at 5:51 pm #144409Penguin45

Martins diagnosis of the board fault will be 99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} correct. Check track side of board for dry/burnt out joints around the relays – you may just hit lucky.
Sorry for confusion, all the info was there, but it was late and I was rather tired.

PROBLEM SOLVED 😀
Following further investigations, I didn’t realise there is a fair few minutes delay form the time the programmer clicks on from it’s start point to the heater switching on 😳 Nothing wrong with the machine, we live and learn.
Normally the machine runs at night unattened, but on return from hoilday, wife puts wash on during daytime and complained the machine was not working properly as the programmer had not moved for some considerable time. Two kids and two weeks washing!! Panic!
