machine will go through it,s cycles as normal but the drum will not spin or turn on any setting , checked belt everything ok , will spin freely by hand and turn motor , possible causes for drum not turning i think could be that no voltage not getting to motor , or burn’t out motor, or speed control burnt out , or cycle control busted,not sure if there is a common problem or things i need to check to find out the problem, please advise i am a qualified electrician and know how to use a multimeter but do not know much about the workings of a washing machine,please can anybody shed some light on this or tell me how to check certain things to find out the cause, Regards Lee…

First thing to check is if the carbon brushes have worn down as this is the most common “fault”.
I know you’re an electrician but remember power off please 🙂

You will need to call in a local independent repairer in to replace the motor brushes. I insert this link Repairs@ for your convenience. 🙂
