KeymasterI’ve not done many of these persoanlly but some of them can be a real swine to get back on. I had to battle with one (can’t recall what make it was) for about an hour one day to get it back on properly. They are “stretch” belts but you can snap them if you use too much force and they actually look as if they’d never fit in a month of Sundays. There are even special tools to fit some of these now as well, which may be required for this one, I don’t know off-hand.
If you get stuck try Repiars@ in the nav panel or the directories to find an engineer to do it for you. Often it’s worth the money for the knowledge. 😉

This model does not have a stretchy belt, however it is still not an easy belt to refit. After trying several different ways, including Hotpoint’s recommended way, I have found that the easiest way is to remove the drum completely. I can now change a belt in around 25 minutes.
Not a repair for the amateur to attempt, you have to remove the fan cowling and the fan as well 😉
Plug out if you intend to carry on.

Well if nothing else it has given you an insight into our profession, 😉
Just imagine having to be conversant with a vast and changing range of appliances with the skills to repair them in a little less time than six hours and you will no doubt appreciate the expertise involved.
Support your local tradesmen, you know it makes sense. 🙂
