😳 The mains lead has broken where it enters the machine under the on/off switch.

Have struggled for the last 15 mins trying to prise the plastic moulding apart under the switch , without breaking it. Have now thrown the machine in a heap in disgust.

Anyone had one of these apart to renew/remake the flex.

    Try this site.

    http://www.clayraku.fsnet.co.uk/

There is a button marked “Dyson DC04” When clicked a sort of toolbar drops down etc. Follow your nose from there.

The switch is easy to break 😈 so take care!

    Good luck

Cheers for that, didn’t see the little cut out in the button, will try again in the morning.

It is worth keeping a set of different coloured buttons for these as the retaining tag can break off when you are trying to disengage it.

Yes Phidom exactly what I am going to do. 😀

I did manage to get the switch button out after trying for about 15 minutes with different bent nails and strong sewing needles, seems like the idea of drilling a hole in the button in the right place to get at the screw is the best way to go, then fit a new button.

Anyway job done, and a wiser man, thanks for your postings.

I’ve always used a very small flat blade screwdriver, if you gently push it down the side of the button nearest the handle, then pull the button up with your fingers it should pop straight off.Only ever had to replace a couple of buttons when I first started doing them.

there is a tool sold by qualtex to do the job and is no more than a cheap terminal driver with a right angle bend half way down steel shaft

    does the job a treat
