KeymasterHello
I have an (aged) Crusader CT51V dryer and require a new door (the plastic brackets holding the glass on the door have snapped, as well as the door locking mechanism breaking too (!!!)).
Can anyone suggest where i can get a complete door (preferrable minus the glass as i already have this)???
I cannot find a crusdaer website anywhere at all and cannot find a spare parts dealer that lists this make/model….
If anyone can lend a hand i would be most grateful as i appear to be going round and round in circles!!!

Your machine is a Creda/Hotpoint manufactured appliance.
The door is not available as a unit you will need the bowl retainers part number 169042 and a door trim 1602662. When you say the door locking mechanism, do you mean you have difficulty opening, if so the door trim breaking under the door latch is the most likely cause, but there are a couple of parts that can also break under the latch plate, the connector plate etc.I would think that if you sent an e- mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk we would be able to help you.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Well, the glass bowl has fallen out and the ALL the brackets holding it in have broken, as well as the door mechanism falling apart. The large plastic plate holding the door mechanism in place has broken where the two screws are so that also needs replacing. When the bowl fell out the small spring and a small catch also fell out. I can’t figure out how it goes back together – but its pointless as the plastic plate holding it all in place has broken anyway!!
I just thought it might be easier to get the door replaced, but you say that’s not possible??
I have also emailed this to the email address you’ve given.
Thanks for your ongoing assistance 😀

The large plastic plate ( latch plate ) may not be broken, the lugs on the door trim that it screws into may have broken off. If required the latch plate is a 1602393. The small metal latch will only fit one way into the latch plate and when that is in position the spring fitting should be obvious, 😉

Well have just got off the phone with someone at Creda Service and was quoted £73.43 for the parts required. I explained the situation as I have done here, but this seems pretty expensive. I cant get a cheaper dryer for £100!!
As far as I can tell (from what you’ve told me) I need the 5 small parts to hold the door in place as well as the latch plate (which has broken off at the point where it screws on, so it definately needs replacing).
The latch mechanism comprises of a spring (which fell out) and a plastic lever/ latch part which is a couple centimetres in size and snaps onto the (broken) plate on the inside of the door.
The chap said he couldnt find the part on the hinge side of the door. Its about the same size as the plate covering the latch and sits next to the hinge.
Still cannot believe £73.43 for this though 🙁

Unfortunately there are some anomolies with the official parts ID software from Hotpoint/Merloni and this appears to be one of them. The diagram for a CT51V shows the old type metal latch lever and plate, not a plastic latch.
The parts will cost you nowhere near £73.00 the door was available as a complete part which is now listed as obsolete but even that was under £30.00
I will try and find the correct part number for the latch plate that uses a plastic latch lever.

I think this is the part number you require, it is for the Hotpoint dryer with the later plastic latch……1700627
Hope that is correct ( not very expensive if it is not ) (£4.00)Do you open the door with a push button at the top or is there a handle on the door. That is the correct part for a push button opening door, but it will fit either.

Jeez, your help is very much appreciated!
The door opens via a handle on the right side (as you look). It’s a simple lever. The latch part has a “claw” ‘bit’ (poor description i know!) at one end and two small spindle-type bits (!!!!) which allow to snap onto the (now broken) door plate and allow it to act as a lever.
Can I just apologise for my poor terminilogy again….!
So, you think i’d be better off NOT ordering the parts as suggested by the chap at Creda? I thought it sounded a bit extortionate!

It looks like you need a
1602662 door trim
1700627 latch plate
169042 bowl retainers ( as many as you require) 4 maxYou should be able to get that from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk
at a fraction of the amount you have been quoted by CredaAugust 23, 2005 at 10:34 am #145573admin

right, here we go.
From what I can tell, the latch plate is broken where it screws (x2) onto the door. The plate itself has broken and the screws are still in place on the door, so it appears that I just need this plate and that the door itself is fine (??).
From what I can tell (but please, please tel me if i’m wrong) I need a replacement latch plate (which is about £2.38) and the retainers (£2.38).
Not sure if I need a new latch (with/without the spring???). The latch part that is still connected to the door is fine and the smaller latch part that it works with (that snaps into the plate) is also fine. it’s just come undone and needs rebuilding upon receipt of the latch plate.
Not sure if I need the door trim????

If you can remove all the bowl retainers and the latch plate from the door and all the raised lugs that these screw into are intact, then you do not need a door trim. It is common for these to break off though.
Got to go out and do some proper work now 😉

looks like our posts crossed over there!!!
So, the Trim – what does that look like? If its not much i’ll go ahead and order it anyway……better to be safe than sorry!
Also, is there a phone number or website where i can purchase the required parts ASAP? I’m in desperate need – but not desperate enough to get charged £73!!!!
