hello, the lower fan assisted oven has stopped heating up but i cannot see anything obviously wrong with the element (behind back panel)

prior to the oven stopping heating (fan works and top oven and hob work) the lights were flashing and now dont work at all.

the instruction manual i have says the oven was fitted in 1985 and “in the event of failure of the colling fan, the florescent light under the control panel, the hob hot warning light and the auto-timer display will be switched off automatically as a warning” – a service call will be needed.

my hob light and auto timer still work

any ideas or do i say its had a good innings and send to the cooker graveyard??

It’s probably just the element Jen.

You’ll need to get it checked for continuity as they don’t always show any physical signs of failure. If you remove it (power off :zap:) and take it to a local spares shop they will be able to check and supply a new element, not too expensive either, it should cost around £20- £25.

Alternatively, check Repairs@ for a local engineer who can come to you and carry out the repair 🙂

    Dave.
