    Diagnosis so far:

    Power off!

    Checked pump and filter for blockages, none found.

    Drain hose and spigot connection to waste checked, no blockages.

    Removed pump and inspected – impellor turns manually, quarter turn at a
    time, smooth.

    Refitted pump, ran last rinse cycle with discharge into a bucket, water is pumped out and program reaches final spin. Pump operates continually, but machine never spins and finally errors with E3.

    Assuming pressure switch problem, removed silicone hose from pressure vessel at back of tub. Blowing down this, the switch can be heard to actuate.

    Removed pressure vessel, cleaned and refitted vessel and hose. Ran last rinse, again machine drains from rinse but will not spin. No water can be observed in pressure bottle.

    Ran spin program with hose removed from pressure bottle, pump operates continually, but again no true spin and program ends with E3.

    Removed filter and allowed machine to drain onto floor – no spin and ends with E3.

    Does this point to a faulty pressure switch, or is there something else which would falsely report water in the tub?

    I was assuming that the pressure switch was OK because the noise could be heard when blowing down the tube, but is this an adequate test or should I check it by substitution?

    Apologies for the length of the post, but I wanted to cover everything. Any ideas gratefully received.

    I would think it was associated with a faulty Pressure switch?

    Just 2 questions for you: I trust there is no washing in the drum? and can you give us the 8 digit number on the back panel beginning with 3???????

    Thanks for the swift response.

    In answer to the questions: I have tried wash and rinse programs with and without a load with the same result. I don’t have the number from the back panel with me, but I can nip home and check if it makes a difference.

    I was thinking it was a faulty pressure switch, but I’m not sure how to test, other than blowing down the silicone tube attached to it, when it can be heard to actuate.

    Is there a better way to test before ordering a new one?

    No problem, just been home to check.

    The product code is 37615945 and the other two 4 digit numbers which make up the serial number are 0138 and 9213.

    OK having checked the model for you, I suspect it is either the Pressure Switch (Part No: 28375042) sticking in the “Full Tub” position or its connection to the Control Module or the Control Module itself at fault. Based on the info you have given so far and assuming the pump is working correctly and that the programme allows the pump to work for 3 minutes before you get the E3 error warning ❓

    Thanks, you are correct – pump runs for around 3 minutes before producing E3, during which time, there is no water in the sump (confirmed by removing filter cover) and no spin.

    I have run a spin with the hose disconnected from the pressure chamber with the same result which made me think that it must be the switch or the module as you say.

    A couple of further questions:

    Is the best way to verify the switch by substitution, or should I use a multimeter across the terminals, or some other method?

    If the switch proves OK and we are looking at a problem with the module, is it still an economical repair, or should I be looking at a new machine from a better manufacturer?

    Yes the only way, a new switch costs less than £15 I believe 🙂

    Either that or the connections to it as I said before!
