A few weeks ago (that’s my excuse for losing the model no.), I told this customer I’d fit it if she got the thing from the manufacturers. So now it has turned up (£30) and I took a closer look to see if there were fixing screws. It’s a Frigidaire larder fr. about five foot high. And it’s glued in.

I suppose I have to take the door off, lay it on the floor, go all round with a flat knife to break the glue and then stick it all back together in perfect alignment? What have I let myself in for? Any tips, including suggested adhesive, gratefully received.

The seal was never intended to be replaced in the first place 😉

Why manufacturers show them as seperate parts is beyond me when they clearly can’t be fitted correctly or easily.

Personally I wouldn’t attempt to do it as it will probably end up damaging the door liner.

    Thanks Dave,
I think I’ll ring Frigidaire next week and ask them what their game is.

Yeah, Brandt did that to me too, so i called them and the then service manager talked of razor blades, white spirit, drills and self tappers. Needless to say i declined the job and probably still have that seal in the ‘big box’

Be aware thought that some manufacturers such as Servis, Fridgidaire and Gorenje are now manufacturing doors with removeable seals. In the case of Servis the original door was fitted with a none replaceable seal but the supplied part comes as a door frame with a seal that fits into a slot.
