ParticipantHi.
I have a problem with my FCS0990A Ocean chest freezer, the alarm light came on about a week ago. Pressed the super freeze button and the pump kicks in and it maintains temperature and the alarm light goes off. Have taken front panel off and seems to be an arcing sound coming from the thermostat while rotating it. It then seemed to work for a while. ( the pump kicked in with super freeze turned off. The next morning problem reoccurs. But ok again once super freeze turned on.
I am guessing that the thermostat is faulty ( checked all connections to thermostat seemed ok ).
Can any one provide any advice. Also if anyone knows part details for suspect parts. As this was bought from powerhouse 5-6 years ago, and since being taken over they don’t know the meaning of customer service.
Many Thanks Kjdspike ( sorry for the long post but wanted go give plenty of details )

The more details the better. Sounds promising like the thermostat has failed as the system still works with the Superfreeze option engaged (Stat bypassed).
Our shop man should give you an answer tomorrow for the part you require. Please do not work on freezer with it plugged in :zap: .Regards

Part number 45X6562 at a rather expensive £39.28 inc VAT and delivery.
If you’d like one, an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk please 🙂

Dave
Can I replace this thermostat, with a cheaper model, as I have seen some of the hotpoint freezer stats for £12 on this site, and these seem to have the 3 spade connectors as mine does. Do you have any ideas how the wires match up as the hotpoint one is for use with a freezer with a warning light sounds very similar to mine. I think my thermostat has grey, black and another one ( cant remember ), plus earth.
Any help greatly appreciated
Kevin

Many refrigeration thermostats are very similar so universal one’s will often do the trick.
The freezer one is a VS5 here:

Quite often the numbers on the terminals match up as well 🙂
