ParticipantHello there,
Have an LG WD-1041WFH washing machine and was running through wash cycle when stopped with “dE” error on panel. Checked door closed as suggested in manual and firmly shut. Powered off, managed to remove clothes with emergency door release and drained machine. Now if power on machine from standby or press door open button can hear a click but door does not open. Tryed to run a rinse cycle to retest and “dE” error again.Would be grateful if anyone could make any suggestions on this ? Door interlock maybe knackered or something else ? Thanks.

It sounds like the door lock to be honest but I’ve had a couple where the main control PCB has also caused this and on occasion the door latch itself doesn’t operate the lock correctly 😕
I would ask an engineer to check as (hopefully) if it’s the door lock they are reasonable enough to replace, have a look at Repairs@ if you need one 🙂
If you decide to go in yourself, power off please :zap:
Dave.

Dave. Thanks for your advice. Had the lock checked out and unable to find fault with it…by both a local washing machine engineer and an electical engineer friend did me a favour to look at it (he can fix most things put his way). Maybe it is the PCB but bitten the bullet and scrapped the machine.
By stroke of luck lady at the gym had a 2 year old Servis machine going spare as she’s moving house, so taking that off her hands as will probably work out cheaper than repairing the beast.

The LG is (was?) a decent quality appliance, and the repair, while pricey would probably have been worthwhile. The Servis is not, but if it was free, enjoy it while it lasts. These also destroy computer boards, which (curiously, for a cheap-end machine) can be dearer than the ones for the LG.
Good luck,

there’s also the chance here that the door latch pin isn’t located properly.
it would be a shame to scrap the lg in favour of the servis if this is the case. -
