ParticipantDoes anyone know what the length is of belt 421307851961? I ordered a pattern one from Washvac, Bin No. 032508 which is actually 1800 H8. This was far too short and I ended up giving the customer 3 other belts to try. I suspect the correct length is something like 1860 but I didn’t have one of that size.

Part number changes to 421309219501 which is an 1810HS (snap on).
Remove pulleys job I think and streeeeeeeetch the bugger on 🙂

I’ve just got back from doing a stretch on a Creda T520VW.
The supplied (genuine) belt was 1860, the original bore the numbers 1866.
Did I have a struggle! The belt fits round the drum when you take it out the packet, without any spare. So you whip it off again and do some of those bullworker exercises with it for a few minutes. “Stretch….and…Hold!” Then you try it again and you try and get some sort of lever in there. But there’s nothing to lever against.
In the end I just had to use every ounce of strength in my hands. (In the end they’re the best tool we’ve got! – Oh Oh, what have I said?)The second time I did this it stayed on when I turned the drum!
When I had the cabinet half way back together, I noticed the grooves in the belt were on the outside. Luckily I managed to turn it over without it coming off.
Putting the cabinet back together when everything is stretching against the back bearing is not easy either.
I think if you’re selling this belt to a DIY guy you better warn him.

Naah, sell him the belt, then point him at repairs@. UKW wins twice 😀
Personally, I use a deep socket and extension bar over the motor shaft to wind these belts on. Dead easy. Don’t tell the punters though…

Thanks. One of the belts he rejected was an 1830 but I think I will try that size when I have to do one of these machines myself. They all seem to be abandoning jockey pulleys that have worked fine for umpteen years in favour of these extreme tensions. I suppose the next thing will be an epedemic of failed motor bearings. Chris, I have seen this about “free work” mentioned on here before. Do you actually mean free advertising? It still costs the same in fuel, phone bills, insurance etc to do the work so I would say there’s no such thing as free work in this business 😕 .
