got this email from a customer in Birmingham today and nearly fell of the chair laughing. And they say us Scots are mean

    I quote,

    “Hi,

I received a call-out for my Cooker Hood on Wednesday and a part has been ordered to be fitted on 12th September.

I just noticed on the invoice that I have been minorly overcharged.

The labour is £72.50 and parts are £32.01, a total of £104.51. The total box has been incorrectly added up to £104.71, a small overpayment of 20p. I paid by cheque for £104.71 numbered 100*** from account 4****1 sort code 3******2.

Please can you make an electronic payment for 20p to that account, or allow the engineer to give me the petty cash on the 12th? I do not want a cheque for that amount considering the relative expense of transport to pay it in.

    Regards,”

I have saw it all now :rotfl:

If I were you I’d suggest he call into your office and collect the money personally.

I had a bloke phone up once and complain regards our postage at £3.50 when the value on the package was something like £1.50. I tried to explain that someone still had to drive to the post office to post the part, and there was the packaging and admin etc involved; on top of that we are not aware of the postage charge until the item has been weighed at the post office, therefore the charge was a standard fee of £3.50. He was having none of it.

In my letter to him I suggested that, “Sir, if you feel agrieved, perhaps if you call into our offices we will refund you the difference less the cost of the stamp to post this letter.” Next day he turned up, he drove 26 miles from Minehead in Holiday traffic to accept the balance in cash. Get this, he made a special trip, as he made a point of saying that he wasn’t up here for any other purpose, just to collect his refund. Would have been great if he had something like a stone chip his windscreen on the return journey.

    Takes all sorts.

Re: And I thought I had seen it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sold a guy a cutlery basket a few months ago (£9.95) and he complained that one of the compartments had cracked on the base after a couple of weeks, when I politely suggested he may have dropped a sharp knife or similar in to it by mistake which may have casued the damage I was presented with a 3 x A4 lecture on distance selling, the EU courts and various other “sales of goods” act stuff which apparently he had studied at length 😆

I asked that he return the cutlery basket for examination and if it were found to be faulty I would either send him another one or give him a refund. He refused the offer of a replacement unless I send it before he returned the supposed faulty one as it would cause him “undue inconvience” not having it in the diswasher, he also suggested that as we sold “poor quality products” he would not be happy with a replacement and only a refund would suffice. I agreed that once the part had been returned and examined….

To date……… not a sign of the cutlery basket 🙄

    Twat !

    Dave.
