I have a problem with my Hoover frost free fridge freezer model HCA 390 FFK.

Every so often I find water which appear to have leaked from underneath (it runs down the grouts of the tiles). It is not leaking continually. I’ve checked the plastic container on the back & it is not overflowing. I’ve also used the little tool to check the hole in the fridge is clear. I’ve also checked the door seal & to my inexpert eye this looks ok. There is a small amount of ice under the bottom tray in the freezer. Otherwise appears to be working fine.

I’ve spoken to Hoover who say parts are under guarantee but they will charge me £89 for someone to come out. A local firm will charge c. £25 to come out but obviously if I then need a new part I’ll have to get hoover anyway… so will end up costing more.

Any ideas as to what the fault might be & what we be the best repair route to follow?

It could be that the defrost tray drain below the evaporator is blocked with either crud or ice, it’s worth checking

yes save your money and defrost it either with hairdryer or just turn off for 24hrs min, take the draws out and look through the grid to see if a drain hole heat strip is fitted coz that should be preventing that!
